The Cutrer Vineyard
270.96 acres | 36 blocks
The Cutrer Vineyard covers approximately 270 acres of the rolling hills of the winery’s 450-acre estate. It is located in the heart of the Russian River Valley where the soil reflects the geological history of the area – from its origin as the ocean floor to the volcanic eruptions of Mt. St. Helena. The volcanic ash that filtered through the soil layers has left the earth deficient in nutrients and water. This stress on the soil in turn stresses the vines, and is beneficial by reducing cluster size of the fruit and enhancing the flavor of the juice.
Select lots of grapes from the Cutrer Vineyard are used in our The Cutrer Chardonnay. The remainder is used in our Russian River Ranches and Sonoma Coast Chardonnay blends. There are also small lots of grapes that contribute to our limited-production Pinot Noir.
