Owsley Pinot Noir’s beautiful, deep garnet color sets the expectation of the complexity and richness of this classic Russian River Valley Pinot. As with previous vintages, it is deeply aromatic and expressive on the nose with blackberry fruit, mocha, cherry cola, well-integrated oak spice, hints of anise, brown sugar and a touch of sweet, comforting vanilla. The wine has a medium structure that is beautifully balanced with a long juicy palate with seamless, integrated tannins. A nice depth of flavors full of oak spices, redberry fruit and sweet vanilla. This wine is ready to enjoy now or can be cellared for an additional 2-4 years.

One of our six estate vineyards, Owsley is known for its dramatic temperature changes from warm days to cool, foggy nights. The closest of our vineyards to the Pacific Ocean, the fruit grown here is highly influenced by the cold fog coming through the Bloomfield Gap. The constant fluctuating temperatures create concentrated and complex flavors in the grapes. This ninety acre vineyard is Goldridge sandy loam soil planted with both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Ten unique blocks of fruit are dedicated to our Pinot Noir.

Owsley Ranch is the newest of Sonoma-Cutrer’s vineyards. Its 90 acres of Goldridge sandy loam is planted with both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Owsley Ranch is highly influenced by the cold fog coming through the Bloomfield Gap, as it is our closest vineyard to the Pacific Ocean. The vineyard straddles a valley that offers multiple sun exposures on either side with the Atascadero Creek cutting through the south side.
